Pricing on 1/4, 1/2 & Whole orders

We price our premium beef at $5.50 for a whole, $5.75 for a half, $6.00 for a quarter purchase per pound based off the hanging weight of the animal. Our price ($5.50/lb) includes the meat and the processing fee. You may order a quarter, half, or whole beef. We require a $150 deposit for a quarter, a $300 deposit for a half, and a $600 deposit for a whole beef. We will contact you the amount of hanging weight approximately 10-14 days before pick up date. All payments are made (cash or check) to Mehan Cattle Co. prior to pick up. Once your order is ready and payment is made, you may pick up your beef at the processing plant. We use Homestead Meats & Processing.

A 900 pound animal yields roughly 55-65% hanging weight which would be 585 lbs. The hanging weight then yields approx. 65% beef or 380 lbs. Per customer order (quarter, half, whole), they will receive their portion of the animal. 

1/4 x 380 = 95 lbs of beef

1/2 x 380 = 190 lbs of beef

1 x 380 = 380 lbs of beef

At 585 lbs of hanging weight times the amount per pound ($6/lb), the customer would pay their share minus their deposit.

Quarter order example

585 lbs hanging weight 

585 x 1/4 = 146 lbs

146 x $6/lb = $876 (meat, processing & deposit)

Standard cuts will be done on all quarter orders. Your side of beef (half order) can be cut to your specifications. Our processor would be happy to walk you through the steps of custom cut ordering. Please check the cut sheet example at the bottom of the page.
