Veterinarians Sandra and Gregor Morgan purchased the property on Mehan Road in 1982, one year after they were married and began their joint cattle operation. Gregor’s background was growing up on a dairy in New Zealand. Sandra grew up in Wynnewood, OK where she purchased calves from her father and started her own herd in high school.
Both Sandra and Gregor were Large Animal Veterinarians employed at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. They were clinical instructors of third and fourth year veterinary students. Sandra was an Ambulatory Clinician and Gregor worked in the clinic and did reproductive herd work. He earned a Ph.D in Reproduction and became a Board Certified Theriogenologist (Reproduction Specialist) with a special interest in embryo transfers. Sandra got a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Pathology and became a Board Certified Veterinary Toxicologist with a special interest in toxic plants and feed related toxins. Gregor became the Head of the Food Animal Section while Sandra became the Veterinary Toxicologist in charge of the Toxicology Laboratory at the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.
They continued to raise cattle with their sons Seth and Sean Morgan even after Gregor’s death. They grow and bale their own hay, (native, Bermuda & Johnsongrass) on the 160 acres and practice free range grazing. The black Angus herd is home grown with only the bull being replaced as needed.
